At a church meeting in 2001 we felt that something was needed to
serve and witness in the local community. The idea of a hour one day
in the week so that the retired and parents/carers with children
could have break with a cup of tea/ coffee and a chat, free of charge
was put forward. With some donations to buy tea, coffee, biscuits
etc. Thursdays 10-30am to 11-30 was chosen.
The emphasis is on the social side but with Christian literature and
people available to witness to those in need. Open Doors as grown to
40 regulars and now has a speaker or demonstrator once a month and
also occasional trips and dinners. Men's night
is an offshoot of Open Doors.
